Sir Brooke Boothby was born at Ashbourne Hall, educated at Cambridge, and spent time in the army. He joined the London literary circle, and published letters and essays, while also writing poetry and miscellaneous pieces. He also lived in France before inheriting his family estate as the seventh baronet. His writings were mainly political or social commentary, but he also wrote imaginative prose and poetry.
